Thanks for your comment, Jared, but I think you're (at least partially) missing the point. I didn't post on Babble with the intention of writing "an article about how close minded the left is."

I often read Rabble/Babble (despite my ideology), and am genuinely interested (if a little frustrated) by what they have to say. But upon finding a thread entitled "Answering questions about affirmative action," which universally supported the concept of affirmative action, I thought I'd introduce an alternative point of view into the mix. Strong ideological principles are great, but a truly "open minded" person should be able to face the tough questions and defend his/her principles, not just talk about doing so.

I was hoping for a genuine philosophical debate, which might cause a few of these people to at the very least step back and question one of the left's most ludicrous and hypocritical policies.

The fact that the 'Babblers' could only respond that my views on "equal treatment" had "no place in a civilized society" only demonstrates the shallowness of their ideology.

Like I said, they have every right to be shallow minded and ban people they disagree with... just like I have every right to call them on it publicly.

You know Jeremy you are a very bright guy, and it's more than a little disappointing to see you waste that potential on stirring on forums that hold an ideology different than yours. You and I both know that you were never going to change minds or get the answers to the questions you were looking for in the wee hours of the morning on Rabble. You accuse those on Rabble, who I would suggest do not speak for all people on the left, of being dishonest. Perhaps they were being dishonest, but they were no less dishonest than you were in stirring them up so you can write an article about how close minded the left is.

And what a surprise that you find a more open forum to discuss your ideas with those who hold similar points of view. Your article reeks of hypocrisy.
